Trileptal – Trileptal |
The branded prescription drug Trileptal-Oxcarbazepine is the
anti-epileptic medication manufactured by Novartis which has been
indicated as mono-therapy or adjunctive therapy for treating the
partial seizures in adults. Certain brain related disorders may
cause epilepsy or seizures. The drug is also being used as
mono-therapy for treating the partial seizures in children aged 4
years or more suffering from epilepsy. Furthermore, this very
medication is also used for treating as adjunct or add-on therapy in
children aged 2 years and above with epilepsy disorders. The drug
has been made available in the film-coated tablet forms of 150mg,
300mg and 600mg for oral administration as well as in oral
suspension form having 300mg per 5mL i.e. 60mg per mL for suitable
dose size based on the individual patient’s requirements as
determined by the doctor treating him.
Trileptal-Oxcarbazepine helps the brain keep signals going to and
from the body from getting mixed up by controlling how fast the
signals are sent. In case the brain happens to send the signals very
fast then this medication helps putting them under control. The drug
will work properly only if the appropriate dose is supplied to the
brain all the time enabling it to control the seizure episodes as
and when they occur. This medication is clinically proven to
diminish partial seizures both through mono-therapy and in
combination with other anti-seizure drugs or add-on therapy for
adults and children aged 4 years. The drug has remarkably exhibited
lesser seizure episodes in patients treated with this drug during
clinical studies.
